3 more days...!

3 more days...!! Of what? What's the big deal? I am turning 3.....30!! This is one of the major achievements in my life, I've managed to live for 3 decades! And I hope many more happy decades to come. Ehem.

And what exactly have I achieved in my 30 years of life? Have you asked yourself...?
Well just to take a quick glance like back to the future thingy of those "special events", bitter or sweet, especially those I can remember off my 30-year-old brain:

1 year to 5 years - Can't remember anything though, except from the photos taken at home. I tried to imagine I was doing this and that, at those places from the photos.. No wonder my 'fortune-telling' chart said that I enter life at 4, meaning if it's chinese, at 5..? Anyway, I wished I could remember better, those photos helped!

6-10 years - My kindergarden graduation at 6! I was wearing shoes with holes and my kindergarden teacher had to halt the entire class graduation photoshooting when she noticed that. I was then given a better pair of shoes. Oh ya, I remembered a sin to confess, I've always like to "take away" small items from the mini and super-markets hehe... sorry for that but I couldn't resist those small cute erasers and pens and those colourful, bottled cake toppings. And I've always like to go for the big knives in the supermarkets and used one to chase after my sisters... I don't remember how old I was at that time, but grandma used to chase me once with a big knife when I used the clothes clipper to clip on her favourite plant - talk about payback or child psychological effect - whichever comes first ;P

And I've always remembered the trishaw ride with blasting hokkien songs played by the Ah Lai Ah Chek to school. 6 in one small trishaws and when it's raining, it's pitch-black inside haha as we're covered by the rain cloth. I could still remember some of the songs... "Cha meh chit thiu thua hor, pah chi wah eh bang, pah chi wah chit thiu ho bang..... Susu liam-liam, susu liam-liam...."

11-17 years - Eng Keong was born when I was 11! I remembered I accompanied mom, walking to the hospital from our house for about 1.5KM on that day and she asked me to wait for father while she went into the room herself. A few hours after that...I got to know I have a brother.

I remembered those cute baby photos that we've taken with Eng Keong. Must scan and post them here!

And we all have to take turns rocking him to sleep when he's back home and helped him remove his hardened dandruff (bled and cracked head, man....) and Eng Keong growed up... more and more mischievous than ever. Must post some photos again hehe... wait wait till I get back to Pg and get those photos scanned..!

And yes, upgraded to secondary school. Schooling time was the best. I cried when I was posted to SM Jelutong when all my friends went to better and more popular school. But it was the best times of my life - studying in SMJ, witnessing all the fights, went fishing with friends, staying overnight at friends' place and rented apts/bungalows, barbeque birthday parties, studying at Chicken Valley (haha!), I really miss those days....

18-20 - Most unfortunate event, the big accident... most painful moments, just like those movies scenes where the heroes remove bullets from their bodies...

And dear grandpa passed away.... but I will remember him forever!

College and working time - The feelings of earning own money was great.

21-25 - Graduated and came to KL. Worked hard and life was tough away from home...

26-28 - Worked and worked harder.... hehe guess those child times were best to be remembered ;) But I did manage to do a few stunts, bungee-jumped-swing from One-Utama's 4th floor, that was UOB's event.

29 - Gotten married finally. Thought I would start an old maids' club or something at this age...

30 - Here I am! Enjoying life 3 weeks without working after being given 24-hour notice by NSN.. hehe I am going to join their competitor! These 3 weeks of time has given me ample time to flash back lots of things.

What's in 30 more years to come....?? If this website survives till then, you'll be updated ;)
In the meanwhile let me enjoy my peacefulness and joy of not needing to think a single thing related to work and breathe and hang-out anytime I want... life is great and I am still 29 though ;)

Wow didn't know that you were so 'ganas'. I remembered something though...you 'burned' a hole in your blue dress...and it was handed down to me and I wore the dress with a tiny hole on it haha.

Yes, I can still remember the Hokkien songs that were blasted out from Lang Chia Pek's loud radio everyday... Some will be forever etched in my memory. One of more prominent ones are "Chah Meh Ji Le Tuo Hoh Pa Chi Wa Eh Bang, Pa Chi Wa Chi Tiao Ho Bang... Hoh ah Hoh Wa keo li mm tang, li pien pien pa chi wa er bang....." Somehow the songs became a signal to us - we knew the trishaw was coming to fetch us even though he was about 100 metres away!!!

As for the knife-chasing incident, I could still remember being chased out of the house, hiding behind the big tree with Lily, but could now remember what it was all about! What I can recollect is that somehow we had angered Grandma. Perhaps the terrified feeling stuck to us till today - as what Lily said - psychological effect...

I also remembered being punished by Grandma - she shooed me out to the dark backlane in the middle of the night b'cos I dropped a round tin of candies covered in glucose! Well, I guess that's all part of growing up!

Hahaha, sorry for the late comments.. but it was really fun thinking back what happened. Ganas? I think I am bit more to the 'psycho' part hahaha.
I already forgotten that I burnt a hole in my dress and blue dress?? Which one??

Kids nowadays have the luxury of the one of the best wonders of the world, digital and video cameras!! Those nice childhood memories can be recorded!! As for us, we have to rely 100% on our aging memories. I hope one day again we can all sit down and share the funny stories again.

Eh Ah Ching, I thought mother's the one who ordered you out to the backplane, not grandma la... then myself and Leng went out to the backplane to look for you that night and begged mother to open the door to let you come in again...

hehe that song!! i could still sing quite a lot of verses of it!! it's automatically "chopped" in the brain, never going to be erased. I think I can still sing it when I am 80 years old :P

The light blue dress with a white collar. You poke a burning joss stick to the dress so it made a tiny hole there. I remembered asking you why there was a hole when I got that dress and you said you burnt it :P

I had a similar "backplane" experience at night too but it was actually the back garden so I was still inside the gate. :p

As for the song, I remembered it as a child but didn't know its meaning. Going through it now, I think I can grasp the meaning. :P

BTW, I remembered someone swinging on the upper bar of the swing...really admire the courage :P

I still can't picture the light blue dress..guess I am old already..but I do remember a dress with burnt hole on it.

It was supposed to be backlane, not backplane haha.. I saw spelling errors in my own comments.

You want translation of that song, I am sure Ah Ching also can do it for you :)

Wah you really can remember lots of things huh.. please jot all of them down or write it in your own blog. We must remember them, those were our valueable childhood memories!
